About Our St. Charles, IL Dentists

Dr. Joseph Karpiak was born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago. He graduated from St. Joseph’s College in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology-Chemistry. He then attended Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 2017 with his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. After graduating dental school, Dr. Karpiak wanted to return home and started to practice in Chicagoland. Dr. Karpiak also discovered his love for teaching and has been an adjunct professor at Midwestern University teaching first year dental students for the past few years.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Karpiak likes to spend time with his spouse and their spoiled cat Tessa. He also loves to travel to new places and perform in theater productions which he has been doing since high school. Dr. Karpiak loves to experience new things and always strives to keep learning.

Dr. Tanquilut was born in Chicago and raised in the southwest suburb of Orland Park. He earned both his bachelor’s degree and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Illinois. As a graduate student, he completed an externship in oral surgery.

After dental school, Dr. Tanquilut completed a General Practice Residency Program (GPR) at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. He rotated through various different departments during his residency, including Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Over the last 20 years, Dr. Tanquilut has taken almost three times the annual continuing education hours required by the state. As a result of his training, continuing education and years of experience, he has been awarded Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry and International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
